Carmen Podgurschi

Carmen Podgurschi is the Emerging Services Lead at Wells Fargo Global Transaction Services. Emerging Services and Infrastructures team pursues transformational cash management rails and initiatives, such as real-time payments, open banking, embedded finance, smart routing, infrastructure modernization, and client experience digitization.

 

Carmen is a founding member of the SWIFT GO initiative, a cross-border payments initiative geared to bringing upfront transparency on fees, FX, duration, to increasing payment delivery speed, with real-time traceability and competitive pricing to low-value transactions for small business, retail, and corporate customers.

Jesse Sandoval

Jesse Sandoval

Jesse Sandoval is a senior vice president and group manager with East West Bank’s Global Transaction Services division. In this capacity, he leads a team of product managers who support payment services throughout the division.

As an industry leader, Jesse has led strategic planning and implementation of successful customer experience programs, product development, marketing, onboarding, risk management, profitability analysis, and organizational alignment initiatives for banks. Under his leadership, the bank significantly increased fee income while maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies.

Prior to joining East West Bank, Jesse held a leadership position in treasury management at City National Bank where he was responsible for strategy, product management, and risk management.

Jesse previously held other roles with Union Bank/MUFG, Bank of the West and First Interstate Bank. Through these roles, he gained extensive global banking and treasury management experience.

Jesse is active in the community and spends spare time helping with economic development in his hometown, most recently as finance commissioner for the City of Montebello. Additionally, he donates his time with the Volunteers of East Los Angeles and the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Isela, a first grade teacher and teenage son, Luis.

Martin Kyle

Martin Kyle is the Chief Information Security Officer at Payments Canada. He is responsible for the organization’s corporate security program, including both cyber and physical security.

Prior to joining Payments Canada in 2017, Martin held a similar role in the cooperative sector of Canadian financial institutions. He also has a deep background in technology development, implementation, and oversight.

Martin is President of the National CISO Division of the CIO Association of Canada. He is also a Senior Member of the Association for Computing Machinery, a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, and Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional.

Martin holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University with additional graduate studies at Simon Fraser University.

Isak Penttila

ISO 20022 Lead

Isak Penttila

Working closely with Payments Canada’s members and stakeholders, Isak helps to analyze Canadian banking systems and business needs, assessing potential solutions to identified issues and proposed ISO 20022 message development initiatives while recommending strategic approaches (both systemic and operational) to support the best way forward for Payments Canada and the Canadian financial ecosystem.

 

Driven by innovation and global cooperation, Isak continually challenges himself to remain at the forefront of key developments and trends in Payment Market Infrastructures and Modernization efforts, and as such, regularly collaborates with various worldwide organizations and financial governing bodies including the European Central Bank, the Bank of England and the U.S. Federal Reserve.

 

Having experience working, consulting and collaborating internationally, Isak is especially well-versed in Canadian and European Payments Initiatives and has had several opportunities to assist with transforming problematic business processes into streamlined, profitable operations with a clear vision and a strategic path forward.

Mayank Mishra is Managing Director and Global Head for Digital Connectivity Platforms for Treasury and Trade Solutions at Citi. His areas of expertise include digital Strategy, Digital Transformation and Innovation in Customer Experience.

Mayank Mishra has over 27 years of industry experience across multiple geographies. He is also a member of Fintech Advisory Board for MUMA School of Business, University of South Florida. Mayank Mishra holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and currently resides in New York. He is an avid golfer and a tennis enthusiast.

Steve Ledford works with payments leaders on strategic issues facing financial institutions and leads initiatives to address them, including the RTP® network.

Prior to joining The Clearing House, Mr. Ledford was a partner with Novantas, a financial services consulting firm. Before that he was a leader in McKinsey’s global payments practice, and was President of Global Concepts, a consulting and research firm specializing in payments and cash management.

Mr. Ledford is a graduate of Wofford College with a BA in Economics.

Enrico Gianotti

Enrico Gianotti

Enrico leads the Modelling team for the Corporate Security department at Banco Bradesco S.A., managing the full model lifecycle for Application Fraud, Transactional Fraud and AML. His duties include Model Risk governance, reporting to senior executives and committees, and engaging with suppliers for external models and solutions.

Past responsibilities include Analytics, MIS, and fraud risk evaluation/mitigation in new product launches. Further past experiences include Credit Risk and the Telecommunication sector.

He earned a Master’s in Mathematics, before specializing in Banking and earning a PhD in Strategic Management. His research themes are Fraud/AML, Innovation and IoT.

His most recent publication is the article “Strategic Management of Credit Card Fraud: Stakeholder mapping of a card issuer” in the Journal of Financial Crime.

Michelle Brick – Senior Director, Real Time Payment Integration, Enterprise Payments at RBC. Michelle has spent her career in Financial Services creating expertise across the payments industry including digital, commercial payments and cash management; policy, project planning and delivery, operations and technology support as well as institutional sales and service. Michelle is currently leading RBC’s Real Time Payments Modernization and ecommerce innovations working with external industry partners, networks and payment regulators. She is currently a member of the Interac e-Transfer Advisory Committee and is the Co-Chair of the Payments Canada RTR Management Committee in addition to other industry leadership groups. Michelle was the Vice Chair of the Canadian SWIFT User Group (2010-2012); represented RBC on the Canadian Payments Association (CPA) Large Value Payment User Group (2006-2012); and represented Canada on the SWIFT Payment Market Practice advisory committee (2011-2012). Michelle has a Bachelor’s of Arts (Hons) from the University of Toronto and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario.

Tim Boike

Tim Boike is vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s Outreach & Engagement Team within the Customer Relationship Support Office. Boike’s responsibilities include team oversight of key Federal Reserve relationships and engagements with the fintech sector, federal trade groups, payment platform service providers, and large corporate end users. Boike’s team works to build and nurture strong relationships with key payment system actors.

Prior to joining the Federal Reserve in 2018, Boike spent 26 years in the financial services private sector with Wells Fargo and U.S. Bancorp. He led teams with functional responsibilities in strategic planning, analytics, partnership and business development, deposit fraud investigations, and industry relations. Boike also has extensive experience helping Fortune 100-size companies redesign efforts to create greater efficiencies in treasury services, purchasing, and payables departments.

Manuela Veloso

Manuela Veloso

Manuela M. Veloso is the Head of J.P. Morgan AI Research, which pursues fundamental research in areas of core relevance to financial services, including data mining and cryptography, machine learning, explainability, and human-AI interaction. J.P. Morgan AI Research partners with applied
data analytics teams across the firm as well as with leading academic institutions globally.

Professor Veloso is on leave from Carnegie Mellon University as the Herbert A. Simon University Professor in the School of Computer Science, and the past Head of the Machine Learning Department. With her students, she had led research in AI, with a focus on robotics and machine learning, having concretely researched and developed a variety of autonomous robots, including teams of soccer robots, and mobile service robots. Her robot soccer teams have been RoboCup world champions several times, and the CoBot mobile robots have autonomously navigated for more than 1,000km in university buildings.

Professor Veloso is the Past President of AAAI, (the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence), and the co-founder, Trustee, and Past President of RoboCup. Professor Veloso has been recognized with a multiple honors, including being a Fellow of the ACM, IEEE, AAAS, and AAAI. She is the recipient of several best paper awards, the Einstein Chair of the Chinese Academy of Science, the ACM/SIGART Autonomous Agents Research Award, an NSF Career Award, and the Allen Newell Medal for Excellence in Research.

Professor Veloso earned a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Tecnico in Lisbon, Portugal, a Master of Arts in Computer Science from Boston University, and Master of Science and PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
